Polo Families!! We NEED your help!!! We encourage each family to sign up for as many games as you are able. Please check back to the Sign Up Genius often. We are unable to run games if volunteer spots are not filled.
In addition, we ask that each family sign up for a minimum of one special project. As a team, we want all of our boys to have a successful and fun water polo season.

Parent Volunteers - The backbone of the team
Scoring Table: We need volunteers to work at the scoring table for all home games and tournaments. At each game, four volunteers serve as shot clock operator, scoreboard operator, recorder and spotter. The scoring table is the best seat in the house and an excellent way to learn the game of water polo. We will need a game announcer as well. If you are new to the sport, please sign up in the training spots listed in the signup genius (links are above) and you will receive "on the job" training.
Breakfast Volunteers: Due to Covid-19 we will not be able to provide breakfast for our athletes this season. We need volunteers to cook and serve breakfast to the team after morning practices. By providing this food twice per season, families ensure that their sons have a good start to a long school day.
Post-Game Meal Volunteers: Due to Covid-19 we will not be able to provide our traditional post game meals this season. Look for "grab and go" bags. We need volunteers to plan, cook, help set-up, serve and clean-up post-game meals. Meals are served in the Rat's Nest immediately following the Varsity Game. We provide these at home games for our athletes, the visiting team and coaches. The cost for these meals is included in the team fee, and all meals are planned and prepared by our meal coordinator.
Hospitality Donations for Tournaments: We provide food and beverages for the coaches, officials and score table volunteers during the tournaments we host each year.
Senior Night: Around the last home game of the season, seniors are recognized with a ceremony on the pool deck between the JV and Varsity Games. The junior parents are usually in charge of organizing this event which includes a special program with color photos of each senior, cake, and a gift for the seniors on both teams.
Photography/Video: Photographers assure that all players are photographed throughout the season. These photos are used on the website and for the end of the season memory books. Videos are used for training purposes along with providing families who are unable to be present a chance to cheer on their favorite polo players.
Program/Memory Book: Volunteers are needed to create a program for each meet to include ads from local businesses as well as a Memory Book which is presented to each player at the Team Banquet at the end of the season.
Team Banquet: Volunteers are needed to coordinate the end of the season banquet held in the Huron Cafeteria. Duties include set-up, decorating, arranging food and beverages (each family brings a dish to pass and a side dish), coaches' gifts, and clean-up.
Water Polo Tournaments: Tournaments give all players more opportunity to play against other teams than a typical game night provides. Not every high school in Michigan has a water polo team; some of the best teams are located on the west side of the state, in Illinois, or beyond. Tournaments that require an overnight stay usually involve games played on both Friday night and all day on Saturday. These tournaments typically take place in a location at least two hours from Ann Arbor. A captain's parent is responsible for booking hotels in advance for players and coaches. At the end of each month, a check is made out to the Huron Booster Club with Men's Water Polo in the memo line to cover the price of travel and accommodations. Players are also asked to bring personal funds of $20 - 30 for additional meals (i.e. dinner on Friday and dinner on Saturday).
